A remarkable statistic – highlighting the long-standing excellence of Bruno Fernandes in Manchester United colours – has come to the fore late on Thursday evening.
Fernandes, and United, are of course currently locked in action.
Amid an ongoing pursuit of silverware on the continent, Erik ten Hag’s troops have welcomed Sevilla to Old Trafford, for the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie between the clubs.
And, as things stand, the Red Devils look well on their way to a spot in the competition’s final-4.
This comes owing to a fine first-half display, culminating in Marcel Sabitzer opening the scoring on the quarter of an hour mark, before adding to his tally once more five minutes later:

And, as alluded to above, in laying on Sabitzer’s opener, a fellow member of Manchester United’s midfield ranks managed a headline-grabbing statistical feat.
In doing so, the Portuguese international joined Lionel Messi as the only player to have racked up 50 or more goals, as well as 50 or more assists across all competitions in Europe’s top five leagues since Fernandes made the move to Manchester back in January of 2020:
