Bruno Fernandes publicly disagrees with Cristiano Ronaldo verdict

Bruno Fernandes has disagreed with Cristiano Ronaldo this week.

After a disappointing World Cup campaign, Portugal decided to change things up in the dugout.

Former Belgium and Wigan boss Roberto Martinez was brought in and has now overseen two matches.

Portugal began their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a 4-0 win over Lichtenstein. They then smashed Luxembourg 6-0 in their second and final outing of the March international break to firmly cement their spot atop of Group J.

Following said outings, Cristiano Ronaldo was full of praise for Roberto Martinez.

Ronaldo hailed the impact of the new boss, telling reporters: “It’s a new chapter for everyone, for the players, the staff and the country. We feel good energy. It’s a breath of fresh air.”

However, Bruno Fernandes was then asked if Martinez had indeed brought a breath of fresh air to the Portugal set-up but disagreed with Ronaldo’s verdict.

Ronaldo’s comments may, however, have something to do with the fact he is once again Portugal’s main striker, whereas he was slowly being pushed out of the XI by the upcoming Goncalo Ramos under the previous regime.

CR7 will be 39 by the time Euro 2024 begins and it will be interesting to see if he is still relied upon as a regular starter in just over a year’s time.
