Premier League outfit Burnley have, on Thursday, been dealt a blow on the transfer front, according to reports.
This comes amid the Clarets’ long-running pursuit of Borussia Dortmund starlet Soumaila Coulibaly.
For those who may have missed it, word was forthcoming late last week that the powers that be at Turf Moor had all but wrapped up a deal for chief defensive target Coulibaly.
This came amid widespread reports that an agreement had been reached with Dortmund, over the terms of a season-long loan featuring a mandatory purchase clause worth a fee in the region of €16-18 million.
An official announcement, in turn, was widely labelled as good as imminent.

It will therefore no doubt come as a heavy blow to all associated with Burnley to hear that, this evening, the club’s swoop for Coulibaly has definitively collapsed.
This comes on the back of a last-minute disagreement over an unspecified element of the purchase clause outlined above.
Coulibaly, a talented 19-year-old central defender, is therefore set to remain at Signal Iduna Park for the time being.
Burnley, meanwhile, will be forced to look elsewhere for Vincent Kompany’s much-desired reinforcements at the back.
