Brennan Johnson

Tottenham survived an almighty scare from Coventry as Brennan Johnson scored in the 93rd minute to secure victory in the Carabao Cup third round.

Brandon Thomas-Asante gave the hosts a deserved lead just after the hour mark after a poor Spurs display against the Championship outfit.

But Djed Spence equalised in the 89th minute with his first goal for the club before fellow substitute Johnson completed the turnaround in the dying minutes to keep Spurs’ Carabao Cup hopes alive.

The victory ended a two-game winless run for the North Londoners and ensured their place in the last 16 of the competition.

Brighton edge past Wolves

Fabian Hurzeler continued his unbeaten start as Brighton boss as they edged past Wolves with a 3-2 win.

But the Seagulls’ victory was far from comfortable, with Ferdi Kadioglu scoring what turned out to be the winner in the 85th minute after Tommy Doyle scored in added time to set up a nervy finish.

Carlos Baleba and Simon Adingra had put Brighton in command in the first half before Goncalo Guedes halved the deficit just before half-time.

Brighton held on to ensure they would be in the hat for the last-16 draw, which takes place next Wednesday.
