An update on the wellbeing of Chelsea star Cesar Azpilicueta has been forthcoming late on Saturday evening.
For those not aware, Spanish international Azpilicueta sparked major concerns across the Chelsea fanbase earlier today.
This came upon the veteran defender being forced into an early departure from the club’s meeting with Southampton.
En route to an eventual 1-0 defeat, ‘Azpi’ was on the receiving end of a kick to the head, in bravely putting his body on the line in the face of Sekou Mara’s attempted overhead kick towards goal.

After being tended to by the hosts’ medical team, the 33-year-old, in turn, was stretchered from the field of play, amid widespread support from the Stamford Bridge faithful.
Speaking on the back of the action coming to a close on Saturday evening, Graham Potter was therefore unsurprisingly asked for an update on Azpilicueta’s wellbeing.
Potter on Azpilicueta: “He is in hospital, he is in the best place for him. He is conscious and speaking to his wife.” Adds that he was unconscious at one point.
