Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of pushing Chelsea to a strong start in the 2023-24 Premier League season may have hit a massive bump in the road after the injury to key summer signing Christopher Nkunku is worse than first feared.
The 25-year-old French international forward finally arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer after the Blues had laid the groundwork for his move from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig months in advance, and was primed to play a vital role in the retooling efforts at Stamford Bridge.
Can confirm, Christopher Nkunku looks set to be out for at least a couple months. Bit worse than initially thought. Absolutely gutting.

According to Chelsea insider Alex Goldberg, Nkunku’s absence is confirmed to see him out for two months, placing his injury suffered during pre-season preparations as considerably worse than what had first been reported.
Thankfully for the Blues, the acquisition of Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson, Brazilian starlet Ângelo, and the potential settling of Ukrainian wonderkid Mykhailo Mudryk could possibly offset Nkunku’s absence, but how Pochettino means to deploy his preferred XI against Liverpool on matchday one this weekend remains to be seen after this considerable setback.
