Chelsea are reportedly ready to continue their spending spree this summer and have registered an early interest in signing Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe after he became available this summer.
The French star shocked World football on Monday when he wrote PSG a letter informing them that he will not be triggering the optional additional year on his contract, meaning that as things stand he will be a free agent in 2024.
In turn, Paris Saint Germain are ready to cash in on their star man this summer rather than lose him for nothing, and there are several possible destinations for the Frenchman.
PSG are surprised with Kylian Mbappé decision as there was NO legal need for Mbappe to send any letter — as from August 1 it’s automatically non-renewal. 🔴🔵 #PSG

According to the Times, one of those is Chelsea, who certainly appear to have the financial muscle to pull the deal off, having spent over £500m in the last two transfer windows.
In the market for more attackers, any move for Mbappe would see him return to work under Mauricio Pochettino and link up with fellow French star Christopher Nkunku, who has agreed to join the club from RB Leipzig.
Todd Boehly and co. could face several obstacles though, with Chelsea not able to offer any European football next season after finishing 12th last season in their worst ever Premier League campaign.
‘Last night was an absolute shambles’, one source explained the following day. ‘Chelsea will not darken PSG’s doorstep ever again. This is not how you do business or treat a player.’
With options thin on the ground and an apparent desire not to sell Mbappe to Real Madrid, however, there will be few clubs that could afford to shell out for Mbappe and PSG may have very limited choices as to who they sell to.
