Leao was linked with Chelsea towards the end of the 2022 summer transfer window, but no move came to pass.
The 23-year-old has since continued to impress in Milan, scoring four and assisting four in seven Serie A ties so far this season.
Leao has also provided three assists in three Champions League games this season.
However, the Portuguese was unable to do anything vs Chelsea in midweek.
The Blues ran out 3-0 winners on the day, limiting Milan’s previously impressive attacking threat.
On Wednesday, Leao was marked by Reece James, who was operating at right-wing-back and scored on the day.
“James is a good player, he was all over me and everywhere at the same time, he timed his runs very fine,” he said.
“I hardly talk about opposing players but this guy is actually the toughest I have faced I think. He scored a goal too against us and that’s something you don’t get from every defender. We just have to focus and finish in a good position now because the competition was never expected to be easy. We slipped and we won’t let that hold us back, we will work harder for the next games.”
Given how impressive Leao has been over the last year, Chelsea fans will no doubt be hoping he and James can link up on the same team in the near future.
