Chelsea have asked about signing Bruno Guimarães, according to the Evening Standard.

The Blues are looking to rebuild their midfield and are now targeting a move for the Brazilian.

The 24-year-old has been hugely impressive for Newcastle following his move from Lyon back in January.

However, a move for Guimarães will be far from easy as the west London club face several barriers.

Chelsea vs Real Madrid vs Newcastle for Guimarães

Chelsea face a very difficult path to sign Guimarães as Real Madrid also want to bring him in and Newcastle ready to offer him a new contract.

Graham Potter’s side made their first move to sign him after learning of interest from the European champions.

The Tyneside club are even ready to offer him a new contract worth £200k-per-week.

Todd Bohley and Chelsea share a good relationship with Newcastle’s Saudi owners and will be respectful in their attempts to pull off a deal.

Potter is keen to rebuild his midfield with N’Golo Kante regularly missing with injuries and Joringho’s contract up at the end of the season.

Kante is in the same boat as the Italian and the Blues are currently in talks with both players over new deals, but no agreement has yet been found.

Denis Zakaria is also considering terminating his loan deal from Juventus having failed to yet make an appearance in west London.
