Chelsea open talks with PSV over former Tottenham starlet

The busy January window being enjoyed by Premier League giants Chelsea looks set to continue over the coming days and weeks, amid reports that negotiations over yet another potential signing have now been opened.

The transfer team at Stamford Bridge, of course, have been hard at work across the month to date.

Amid what has proven a hugely underwhelming campaign, Blues owner Todd Boehly has bankrolled a new year’s spending spree, which has already culminated in four new faces landing in west London.

To this point, all of Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana and Andrey Santos have put pen to paper on terms with Graham Potter’s side.

And yet, it would appear as though the powers that be at Chelsea remain altogether unhappy with the current state of the club’s squad.

After reports spread on Thursday that the capital outfit were ready to push for both Moises Caicedo and Marcus Thuram, 24 hours later, yet another Blues transfer target has been confirmed.

For those not aware, Madueke is a versatile 20-year-old attacker, who currently plies his trade in the Eredivisie with PSV.

The starlet, though, is an English youth international, who previously spent time on the books of both Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.

And, evidently impressed by his displays since making the move to Eindhoven, Chelsea are now hopeful of bringing Madueke back to his home country.

PSV, for their part, are desperate for the winger to stay put, after already losing Cody Gakpo to Liverpool this month.

But Chelsea – under the advice of new technical director Christopher Vivell – are convinced that a January deal could be struck for a fee in the region of €45 million.
