Chelsea have set an English record after their encounter with French champions Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Blues would play host to Lille in the first of two Round of 16 Champions League clashes.

Chelsea headed into the game as clear favourites and eventually came away with a pretty comfortable 2-0 win.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring for Chelsea after seven minutes when he headed in a Hakim Ziyech corner.

Chelsea would then eventually double their lead shortly after the hour-mark when Christian Pulisic was slipped in by N’Golo Kante, to set up the second leg next month with one foot very much in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea set English record

That record sees Chelsea become the first English team in either the Champions League or European Cup to win five home games in a row without conceding a goal, with the wins coming against Lille, Juventus, Malmo, Zenit and Real Madrid.
