A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the first-team ranks at Premier League giants Chelsea is ready to hold out on putting pen to paper on a new contract, it has been revealed.
The Blues talent in question? Levi Colwill.
Defender Colwill, of course, is widely considered to be a star in the making amongst those in a position of power at Stamford Bridge.
Fresh off proving himself Premier League ready courtesy of a stellar loan stint with Brighton & Hove Albion last season, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the 20-year-old being offered fresh terms in west London.
As per reliable Chelsea journalist Nizaar Kinsella:
‘Levi Colwill has been offered a new long-term deal at Chelsea.’
However, to this point, the England youth international has opted against committing his long-term future to his parent club.
This comes, according to Kinsella, with Colwill seeking out crunch talks with incoming Pensioners boss Mauricio Pochettino, regarding his role in his squad moving forward.
All the while, Brighton, desperate to bring the Cobham academy product back to the south coast, are ready to pounce, by way of a club-record bid.
🚨 Exclusive: Levi Colwill has been offered a new long-term deal at Chelsea.
It’s a good offer but he won’t sign anything until he speaks to Pochettino, needing assurances on his squad role.
