An up-and-coming member of the defensive setup at Premier League giants Chelsea has been singled out for widespread praise on Saturday evening.

The Blues starlet in question? Levi Colwill.

This comes owing to the gifted central defender’s latest performance on the international stage, with England.

For those not aware, England’s U21s were back in action a short time ago.

After enjoying a stellar tournament to date, Lee Carsley’s troops made the trip to Batumi, for a European Championship finale showdown with heavyweights Spain.

The Young Lions headed into proceedings having remarkably not conceded a single goal across the span of the competition.

A solitary goal, netted in altogether fortunate fashion by Curtis Jones on the stroke of the interval, ultimately proved the difference between the two sides come the full-time whistle.

Shot-stopper James Trafford proved himself another Young Lions hero, though, in keeping out Abel Ruiz’s penalty kick a full six minutes into injury time.

And yet, as alluded to above, on the back of the dust settling on a brilliant night for all associated with England, it is another member of Carsley’s ranks who has been widely labelled the nation’s standout performer not only against Spain, but across the length of the summer’s tournament.

Ahead of an imminent return to base in west London with Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea, Levi Colwill proved beyond any measure of doubt exactly why the powers that be at Stamford Bridge have rebuffed any and all interest in his signature this summer.

A picture of calm and collectiveness at the heart of the English backline, the 20-year-old led by example game after game, with just some of the social media reaction to his latest display showcased below:
