Chelsea team news & predicted line-up vs West Ham United

The Blues have secured just one win in their last six Premier League matches, but the return of João Félix to first-team duties could bolster Graham Potters attack enough to see Chelsea earn a vital three points to build a desired push up the table and into the European places

The free-spending habits of Premier League giants Chelsea will once again come under the microscope at Saturday lunchtime when the Blues make the short trip to clash with West Ham United FC in the wake of the club’s frustrating 0-0 draw against Fulham at Stamford Bridge last Friday, keeping the capital side at just one win from their last six league clashes.

Graham Potter could look at this opportunity to reward the performances of some players that came off the bench against the Cottagers, namely January signing Noni Madueke and the returning Ben Chilwell, while João Félix could find himself back in the XI immediately after completing his three-match suspension after being sent off on his full debut. On paper, Chelsea has more than enough firepower to get the right result on the road but as the club has already proven this season, power projection needs to be backed by results for it to matter.

Predicted Chelsea XI

Chelsea Team News

  • Out: Armando Broja, Christian Pulisic, N’Golo Kanté, Édouard Mendy
  • Doubt: Wesley Fofana, Mateo Kovačić, Denis Zakaria

Graham Potter will be thankful for the incredibly deep senior squad at his disposal as Chelsea is set to make the short trip to the London Stadium to clash with struggling West Ham United, and must still contend with a number of notable absentees in the process.

Armando Broja, Christian Pulisic, N’Golo Kanté, and Édouard Mendy all remain out for the foreseeable future, and the weekend clash is likely coming too early for the eventual return of Wesley Fofana despite his return to first-team training. The same can be said for Swiss international Denis Zakaria, but Croatian star Mateo Kovačić could be included in the matchday squad and may even make a surprise return to the XI at the expense of either Conor Gallagher or Mason Mount.
