Welcome to Tuesday’s round-up of Chelsea’s transfer news, including the futures of several current stars as time ticks down towards the transfer deadline.
📰 Table Of Contents
Petrovic deal done
Chelsea have agreed a deal for a new backup goalkeeper in the form of Djordje Petrović, with the Blues set to pay New England Revolution a fee of close to 20m dollars (£15.5m) for the shot-stopper.
The goalkeeper, who will provide competition for Robert Sanchez, is set to sign a seven year contract and will undergo medical testing and sign his contract later in the week.
Lukaku’s future unclear
Though Romelu Lukaku’s future certainly lies away from Stamford Bridge, it is hard to see where just yet.
The Belgian was thought to be set on a move to Inter Milan, only for that to fall through thanks to him entering into negotiations with Juventus.
Now, Juventus are unlikely to sign him, and will only sanction the move if they can get Dusan Vlahovic off the books, which looks unlikely unless Chelsea agree to a swap deal.

Balogun in Chelsea’s sights
Chelsea are in discussions with Arsenal star Folarin Balogun over a potential £50m move across London this summer as they look to find more firepower to lead their line.
The London Evening Standard claim that they have identified Folarin Balogun as the man to answer their issues, with the Arsenal youngster expected to leave north London this summer and not having featured in either matchday squad so far this season.
However, it is added that ‘at this moment, it’s Monaco who are leading the race and held the most talks with Arsenal over a deal for Balogun’, though the French side too are unwilling to match Arsenal’s hefty asking price and have seen one £34m offer turned down.
The Telegraph add that ‘there is currently a big difference in valuation of the 22-year-old striker between the Blues and Arsenal’, which could scupper any move.

Blues to battle it out with Tottenham
Another forward that Chelsea are keen to bring in is Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson, who is also thought to be the subject of interest from London rivals Tottenham.
The City Ground side value their talisman at around £50m, and the Telegraph report that ‘the Blues have discussed sending players in the opposite direction’, though at present no deal has been agreed.
Lewis Hall leaves
On the outgoings front, Newcastle United have confirmed the loan deal for young talent Lewis Hall, which includes an option to buy believed to be around £28m. The teenager is the fifth arrival at St. James’ Park this summer and will wear shirt number 20.
🤝 Welcome to Newcastle United, Lewis Hall!
