The plans of the powers that be at Premier League giants Chelsea for summer arrival Deivid Washington have been revealed on Friday evening.
For those not familiar with his name, Washington is an 18-year-old attacker, who, until now, had spent the entirety of his fledgling senior career on the books of Santos.
Viewed as one of the finest young talents in his home country of Brazil, he was, though, snapped up by the aforementioned Chelsea late last month.
Amid the Blues’ latest big-money spending free, Washington’s arrival, for understandable reasons, went somewhat under the radar.
But, evidently, Mauricio Pochettino and co, even at this early stage, hold the teen in altogether high regard.
The widespread assumption leading into the final hours of the transfer window was that Washington would be farmed out on loan, in a bid to secure regular first-team football.
As per a number of reliable sources in Brazil, Washington is set to stay put in west London, until at least the January transfer window.
This comes amid suggestions that the attacker will be afforded the chance to carve out a place for himself in Chelsea’s senior setup over the months ahead.
