Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has been named the PFA Young Player of the Year.
The 22-year-old has picked his first major individual honour and followed in the footsteps of some of the Premier League’s greats, including Gareth Bale, Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney.
Palmer netted 22 goals last season, including a hat-trick against Manchester United and four against Everton.
He added 11 assists to that tally as Chelsea struggled home to a sixth-placed finish.
Palmer was handed the award by Blues legend Gianfranco Zola at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday evening.
The ex-Manchester City prospect decided to pursue a different journey in the capital rather than stay with Pep Guardiola and so far it has worked out for him.

Having commanded a fee of £42.5million, Palmer proved to be the signing of the season.
His campaign included scoring nine penalties for Chelsea, not missing a single effort.
The Blues may have lost to the Premier League champions on the opening day, but Palmer and Co will be looking to bounce back against Servette in the Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday before facing Wolves on Sunday.
