Coventry City owner Doug King has confirmed that Frank Lampard is among the candidates being considered for the head coach position after last week’s departure of manager Mark Robins.
Speaking at a Fans Forum at the Coventry Building Society Arena, King addressed the importance of the upcoming appointment and shared that numerous applications had been received.
In an interview with Sky Sports, he revealed that former Chelsea and England star Lampard is among the applicants.
He said: “We’ve received a huge amount of CVs from high-quality people, of which Frank is one.
“We’ve done nothing on that process. Clearly, we’re in the international break. We’ll be assessing everything.”
King added that they’ll soon create a shortlist of potential candidates for further consideration.

Lampard, who last managed as caretaker at Chelsea until the end of the 2022-23 season, has prior experience in the Championship, having led Derby County to the play-off final in 2019.
He is currently the bookmakers’ favourite for the role, with other potential candidates including former Coventry striker Robbie Keane, who recently coached in the Indian Super League and at Maccabi Tel Aviv, and ex-Coventry midfielder Lee Carsley, currently in charge of England ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s arrival.
Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield is also reportedly on the radar, although he has not been approached directly.
Following Robins’ departure, Coventry announced that the new head coach would operate within the club’s updated structure.
For now, Rhys Carr, the joint first-team coach, has been named caretaker manager.
Carr led the team to a spirited 2-2 draw with Sunderland after trailing 2-0 and will continue in this interim role until a permanent head coach is appointed.
Coventry’s next match is set for November 23 against Sheffield United, who currently hold the second spot in the standings.
