Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool stint has not exactly gone to plan since his move from Benfica last summer.
The early comparison to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland did him no favours but his form was also poor.
Nunez’s temper and poor decision-making in front of goal has cost Liverpool several times.
As a result, it was not at all surprising to see him start on the bench in all three of Liverpool’s league games so far this season.
But after coming off the bench vs Newcastle and scoring a brace to win the game, Jurgen Klopp was asked about Nunez’s frustration at his lack of starts and said:
“I understand the question, it’s clear he’s not happy,” Klopp said when asked about Nunez starting all three of Liverpool’s opening league games on the bench.
