Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has, on Thursday, spoken out over his plans for Joao Felix.
The subject of frontman Felix’s future, of course, has taken its place back front and centre in the headlines over the course of the week to date.
This comes after Aleti President Enrique Cerezo dropped something of a bombshell.
Speaking in an interview with Marca, the Spaniard revealed that incoming Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has already informed the powers that be at Stamford Bridge that Felix – on loan from Atletico – is not part of his plans:
“The truth is I can’t say what Joao’s future holds”, Cerezo began. “Yesterday we got the news that the new manager at Chelsea is planning without him. We don’t have a plan yet, but Joao is now an Atlético player.”

As things stand, this means that the Portuguese is primed to return to Spain’s capital over the coming weeks.
And the Argentine tactician was not at all hesitant in confirming that he is more than happy to welcome a once-key member of the attacking ranks at the Wanda Metropolitano back into his squad:
“Joao is our player. If Chelsea don’t want to sign him as apparently Pochettino decided… he will be back here and he will be part of our team. I can work with him, I’ve no problem at all with Joao. He knows that.”
