West Ham defender Emerson Palmeiri has become the first player to ever win all five of UEFA’s competitions after the Hammers lifted the UEFA Conference League thanks to a 2-1 win over Fiorentina.

In what was a cagey final, a VAR review awarded West Ham a penalty for a handball midway through the second half, which Said Benrahma cooly dispatched to hand them the lead.

However, Fiorentina hit back almost immediately, with Bonaventura driving the ball home from 20 yards to level the tie, and the Viola looked to be the more likely to walk away with the trophy.

But there was a twist, as Jarrod Bowen scored in the dying seconds of normal time to snatch the trophy for David Moyes’ side, sending the London side into ecstacy in the process and landing them their first European trophy since the 1960s.

It has meant that Italian defender Emerson has walked away with an astonishing record in the process.

The left-back, who played all 90 minutes against La Viola, has now lifted the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League (during his time with Chelsea), as well as the Conference League, becoming the first player to ever manage the achievement.

Having only joined the club 12 months ago from the Blues, it caps a mixed season for the Italian, who struggled for regular game time at the beginning of his stint but was given a starting berth over Aaron Cresswell in the final.
