A win against Newcastle on Wednesday would lift them above the Magpies, but their poor goal difference means they are relying on them and Chelsea to drop points on the final day to have any chance of qualifying for the Europa League.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Dutchman said: “It’s a very important game. You get the ranking, so it’s very important to get the win, we have to do everything in it to get the win and we have to fight hard for it.”
“What they [fans] did in the last games. At Palace, they were so magnificent, they were brilliant.
“You say the mood is low, maybe the expectations are lower but I don’t want to say the mood, the vibe they create is lower.
“They back the team at Palace and last Sunday [against Arsenal].”

It is set to be an interesting summer at Manchester United.
The club recently announced defender Raphael Varane will be leaving when his contract expires in June and other stars have been linked with a move away.
One of those who has an uncertain future is captain Bruno Fernandes.
Reports suggest the Portugal international will consider his options after the FA Cup final on 25 May, with Inter Milan and Bayern Munich reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.
But for Ten Hag, he is refusing to consider a future where Fernandes is not at the club.
He added: “It’s the same question as last week. So I answered. The same answer.
“Now in all the years he was here, he has been a tremendously important player for Manchester United – creating the most chances across the Premier League.
“So many assists, so many goals. It’s clear he’s a very important player for us.”
