Manchester City star Erling Haaland, on Friday evening, managed to etch his name ever further into the history books of English football.
This comes after City kicked the defence of their Premier League title into gear, in a trip to Turf Moor.
Star man Haaland, altogether unsurprisingly, went on to prove himself the star of the show, picking up exactly where he left off after a record-breaking debut campaign in England last time out.
It took the Norwegian just three minutes to open his account for the term, directing a fine volley into the bottom corner of the Burnley net:
3 MINUTES IN…HAALAND SCORES! 🤯

And he was back at it once more half an hour later, lashing a pinpoint effort home off the underside of the crossbar:
DEVASTATING.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, Manchester City’s main man secured for himself a special piece of history.
The only other to manage as much? Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
2 – Erling Haaland is only the second player to score 2+ goals in a team’s opening game of a Premier League season in consecutive seasons (also two vs West Ham in 2022-23), along with Didier Drogba in 2009-10 (two vs Hull) and 2010-11 (three vs West Brom) for Chelsea.
