Erling Haaland’s father has put one club in ‘pole position’ for summer move

The influence of Erling Haaland’s father, Alf Inge Haaland, has left Manchester City in ‘pole position’ for his signature, according to reports.

Football Insider claims that Haaland senior, who spent three years in the north west with the Citizens during his own playing days, has told his son to join his old side and work under Pep Guardiola, handing Real Madrid and Barcelona a massive blow in the process.

Alf-Inge Haaland played 45 times for City, scoring 3 times, before Roy Keane ended his career with a horrific tackle.

And his son is set to be available for around £68 million in the summer, with a release clause due to kick in with current club Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian star has netted 16 times in 14 games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga so far this season, and has taken his tally for the club to 80 goals and 21 assists in 79 games.

Whoever lands him has a ready-made superstar on their hands for a bargain price.

City ready to break the bank

Guardiola will have support, according to Football Insider, from the owners should he look to make a move for Haaland, whom it is understood the City boss and hierarchy are ‘big admirers’ of.

Already running away with the Premier League this season, and having reached the Champions League final last time around, should they add the goalscoring freak to their ranks, the Sky Blues could well become unstoppable.
