France's Dider Deschamps

France head coach Didier Deschamps says Kylian Mbappe is available for the Euro 2024 semi-final clash with Spain.

The new Real Madrid star was withdrawn for extra-time against Portugal last week, leaving some doubting his fitness ahead of Tuesday night’s game.

But the 25-year-old will be on the pitch and hoping to make an impact for Les Bleus.

Deschamps said during his press conference: “We knew that extra time [against Portugal] was a little bit hard for him.

“From a muscular point of view, he’ll definitely be on the pitch. We wanted him to rest up as much as possible.

“We’ve done everything we could and I’m convinced Kylian is in a good place.

“He’ll do everything to give 110 per cent tomorrow, as will the rest of the group.”

Spanish excellence

Mbappe is France’s only scorer at the tournament, and Deschamps’ side are yet to score from open play.

Aside from the ex-Paris Saint-Germain man’s penalty against Poland, the other goals to have gone in France’s favour have been own goals.

Undoubtedly, it will be an issue Deschamps has discussed with his players but is more focused on how to stop Spain, and suggests the battle will be won in the midfield rather than the final third.

He added: “All Spanish teams have always had a good midfield.

“They have the ability to control the game. Their midfield is strong, with Rodri essential.

“They’re the team who have had the best EURO so far. They’ve left the best impression after every game.”

Spain and France face-off on Tuesday night at 8pm in Munich.

The winner will face either the Netherlands or England in the final.
