Euro 2024: Spain v France team news – Griezmann dropped for Dembele, Navas comes in

Deschamps leaves Griezmann out after a below-par tournament while Spain make three enforced changes

Antoine Griezmann playing football for France

Antoine Griezmann has been dropped by France coach Didier Deschamps for their Euro 2024 semi-final against Spain in Munich.

The Atletico Madrid forward has failed to hit the heights in the five games France have played so far, during which they have not scored a goal from open play, their three goals have come from two own-goals and a penalty.

Ousmane Dembele comes in for Griezmann after an impressive showing off the bench against Portugal in the last eight.

Adrian Rabiot also starts after missing the quarter-final through suspension, while the man in the mask, Kylian Mbappe, captains the side.

Spain have made three changes, all enforced, for the semi-final.

With Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal suspended after picking up cards in the quarter-final, Real Madrid skipper Nacho comes into central defence and evergreen Jesus Navas fills in at right-back.

It means a spot of history for Spain as they will field the oldest and youngest outfield players ever to start a major tournament semi-final. Navas is 38 years and 231 days old, while Lamine Yamal starts on the right aged 16 years and 362 days.

Pedri will miss the rest of the tournament after sustaining a knee injury in a challenge from Toni Kroos in the last four, with Dani Olmo starting in his stead, having come on to score one and tee-up another against Germany.

Spain progressed with a perfect record from a group also containing Albania, holders Italy and Croatia.

France beat Austria before drawing with the Netherlands and Poland, then beat Belgium 1-0 in the round of 16 and Portugal on penalties in the semi-final.

The winners will play the Netherlands or England, who meet in the second semi-final in Dortmund on Wednesday (20:00 BST), at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Sunday (20:00 BST).
