Spain players dominated UEFA’s Team of Euro 2024 after beating England to lift the trophy for a record fourth time on Sunday.
La Roja were deserved 2-1 winners over the Three Lions in Berlin, capping off a brilliant European Championship campaign which saw them win all seven of their games.
Dynamic wingers Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal are selected in the forward positions after dazzling audiences throughout the tournament and notably combining for the first goal on Sunday.
A full-Spanish trio of Rodri, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Olmo makes up the midfield following some dominant displays in the centre of the park while scoring six goals between them.
Meanwhile, Marc Cucurella slots in at left-back after an assured tournament ended with the Chelsea defender assisting Mikel Oryazabal’s 86th-minute winnner in the final.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri was also named as the Player of the Tournament on Sunday, with 17-year-old Yamal handed the best Young Player award.
Beaten finalists England have just one member in the XI which is, perhaps surprisingly, right-back Kyle Walker, with best Three Lions performer Jordan Pickford pipped in goal by France’s Mike Maignan.
William Saliba is the other player from Les Bleus to make the team, with the defensive duo’s selection arguably a testament to the defensive approach deployed by Didier Deschamps in Germany.
Germany star Jamal Musiala wins a place after finishing as joint top scorer with three goals alongside Olmo and four others, but is the only player from the hosts to be named following their quarter-final exit.
Completing the team is Man City’s Manuel Akanji, who put in some superb displays at the back during Switzerland’s run to the quarter-finals.
