Everton’s talks with the Friedkin Group over a takeover of the club have collapsed after the two parties failed to reach an agreement.

The Friedkin Group, who also own Serie A club Roma, had agreed a deal in principle to acquire the Premier League club in June.

Toffees chairman Farhad Moshiri had entered exlusive talks with the US-based company but those discussions are now over.

A joint statement said: “Both Blue Heaven Holdings and The Friedkin Group entered discussions in good faith to explore whether a sale could be agreed.

“Those discussions have concluded. The parties agree it is in both their interests for Everton to explore alternative options.

“The Friedkin Group will remain a lender to the club and is proud to have played a key role in enabling the new stadium to be built, which will help ensure a bright future for both Everton and the City of Liverpool.

“Blue Heaven Holdings maintains a positive relationship with The Friedkin Group and would like to thank them for the time and effort they have put into this process.

“When there is further news to share, it will be provided via the club’s official communication channels.”

It continues to uncertainty surrounding the Merseyside club after a previous deal with Miami-based firm 777 Partners, who Moshiri agreed to sell his 94.1% take to in September, fell through on May 31.

Everton finished 15th last last season despite an eight-point deduction for profit and sustainability breaches.

They are duo to move into a brand new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock at the start of the 2025-26 season.
