Tuesday evening saw a highly anticipated friendly clash play out in Israel.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid legends would face off at the Bloomfield Stadium in the country’s capital, Tel Aviv.

Deco discusses Chelsea, Portugal & Jose Mourinho

On the back of Tuesday’s game, 101 would speak to Deco, who was of course playing for Barcelona on the night.

The former midfielder lined out for the Catalonians between 2004-2008, winning two La Liga titles and the Champions League whilst doing so.

When speaking to our 101 reporter on Tuesday, Deco was drawn on Jose Mourinho – his former boss at FC Porto, Chelsea – one of his former clubs, and his home country of Portugal and their Euro 2020 campaign:

What do you think about Mourinho, you started your career with him and now the career is going in a different direction, do you think he will go back to win major titles?

Why different direction, he’s a coach, he’s training a lot of clubs he won a lot of things he’s one of the best coaches in history. He has a new job good luck to him, he is a friend I wish the best for him.

What do you think about Portugal in the Euros, what didn’t go so well?

Portugal was one of the favourites, they played very well in the game against Belgium. In these kind of games everything can happen, normally, in my opinion, Portugal could have won the game because they played very. Portugal has to be one of the favourites to win the World Cup because they have a good team, a lot of good players, some young players.

How impressed were you with Chelsea – your old club – in the past season?

Chelsea did very well. A lot of young players, new players this season, experienced players

They changed the coach, Frank was, at the beginning, doing good job. After that, after Frank, Tuchel took over the team. He did very good job and I was happy because I was supporting Chelsea in a final and it was amazing seeing Chelsea their once again.
