Arsenal are prepared to wait on a potential deal for Kai Havertz as they believe that the price will be forced down by Chelsea’s need to sell players before the 30th June.

The Gunners have registered an interest in Havertz, and are keen to get a deal done for the 24-year-old this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to build on a side that finished second in the Premier League last season.

Despite a tough time at Stamford Bridge since his 2020 arrival, there is a hope that the Spanish coach could return Havertz to something like his best form from his time at Bayer Leverkusen, form which made him one of the most sought after players in world football.

However, they won’t be doing a deal as things stand at present, with Chelsea keen to demand around £70m for the German despite him being into the final two years of his contract.

Arsenal are unwilling to pay that much, with reports suggesting that the Gunners would be happy to pay £60m all told, which could include a significant amount of that in performance-based add-ons.

However, there is a hope from Arsenal that the price can be lowered further yet, with Chelsea ‘in a race to offload unwanted players before June 30, so the sales can be included in their financial accounts for 2022-23′, meaning that the closer to the deadline that they get, the more desperate the Blues may become.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are also looking to offload Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City and Mason Mount to Manchester United, both of which could have the same constraints as a deal for Havertz and could have a knock-on effect on any move for the German.
