Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson has slammed his parent club’s ‘criminal’ treatment of him over the past 12 months in an astonishing outburst on TalkSPORT.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper was included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the delayed 2020 European Championships last summer, but was forced to pull out, and has not made a Premier League appearance since, only able to watch on as Manchester United shipped 57 goals, four more than relegated Burnley, to limp to a sixth-place finish.

And in an eye opening interview, the Englishman revealed how annoyed he was left feeling by the Red Devils over his failure to land specific playing time, despite their promises that he would be their new no.1.

The shot-stopper, now set for a full season of action at Nottingham Forest, has not spoken to Erik ten Hag since the Dutchman took charge.

“The conversation I had coming out of the Euros squad was: ‘You’re coming back here to be the number one.’”, Henderson explained.

“I got Covid-19, came back, so I should have still been the number one but then nobody followed through with what they had told me.

“I worked hard on and off the pitch to keep improving day in, day out, and now I am looking forward to the season with Nottingham Forest.”

“To be honest, it has probably been the toughest 12 months of my career.

“It was frustrating, because I turned down so many good loans last summer for that reason, and they would not let me go.”
