Premier League giants Manchester United are on the verge of closing a deal for the club’s fifth signing of the summer, according to reports.
The latest player primed to take his talents to Old Trafford? Altay Bayindir.
For those not familiar with his name, Bayindir is a 25-year-old goalkeeper, who has been plying his trade with Super Lig giants Fenerbahce in his home country of Turkey since 2019.
He has gone on to establish himself as the undisputed no.1 in Istanbul, whilst notching five appearances for the Turkish national team, too.
In turn, it should not have come as a major surprise when word was forthcoming that Man United, on the lookout for a backup for new no.1 Andre Onana, had set their sights firmly on Bayindir’s signature.
Negotiations were therefore long kicked into gear between the respective boards at Old Trafford, and The Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:
‘Understand Turkisk GK Altay Bayindir is already in England ahead of move to Manchester United.’
A €7 million deal is believed to have been agreed with Fenerbahce, with Bayindir’s arrival set to open the door for Dean Henderson to join Crystal Palace.
