Ex-Manchester United teammate Ashley Young has trolled Gary Neville on social media after yet another prediction came back to bite him over the weekend.

Neville has been centre of a social media storm with Arsenal fans after his prediction that Manchester City would win the Premier League title came to pass, and that they could win the title by as many as 13 points come the end of the campaign has only rubbed further salt in the wounds.

This time, however, it was a prediction about Liverpool that went wrong.

Quizzed on the potential top four race last week, Neville suggested that Manchester United were in danger of losing a spot in the Champions League to a resurgent Liverpool, before predicting that ‘Liverpool will get 71 points. I don’t think that there is any point in Manchester United or Newcastle thinking that they won’t have to win two matches each out of the last three’.

‘They have to win two matches, otherwise they will be in big trouble’, he added.

What he didn’t reckon with, however, were Aston Villa and former teammate Ashley Young, who managed to escape Anfield with a 1-1 draw in controversial circumstances on the penultimate day of the season, leaving Newcastle and Manchester United needing one point from their final two games to secure Champions League football next season.

Neville has since responded, claiming that he has never been happier to be wrong, with the result helping out his former side massively in their race for Europe.
