Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has, late on Sunday evening, provided a fresh insight into the chances of him linking up with Premier League giants Manchester United.
The name of Dutch international De Jong, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines throughout last summer’s transfer window.
This came as the 25-year-old was hotly tipped for a Camp Nou departure, amid both Barcelona’s widely-publicised financial struggles, and intense interest in his services on the part of the aforementioned Manchester United.
In the end, De Jong ultimately stayed put, after making clear time and time again his desire to succeed long-term in Catalunya.

And yet, despite as much, speculation surrounding a potential move to Old Trafford for the former Ajax standout upon the close of the campaign has continued to swirl in the media.
Speaking in a post-match interview after playing a starring role in Barca’s last-gasp victory over Real Madrid on Sunday, De Jong was therefore, once more, drawn on his future.
“No, I don’t think so. You never know of course. But I’m very happy in Barcelona!”
“You won’t join Manchester United in the summer, correct?”, @ZiggoSport asking.
