Premier League outfit Fulham have, on Saturday, evening, announced the long-rumoured departure of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The name of hitman Mitrovic, of course, has long taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Craven Cottage.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Serbian international had been identified as a leading target on the part of Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal.
Weeks of intense negotiations between the parties followed, with Mitrovic himself having made crystal clear his desire to depart for the riches of the Middle East.
The powers that be at Fulham, however, refused to budge, insistent that the club’s top scorer in 2022/23 was not for sale under any circumstances.
Evidently, however, the Cottagers, in the end, were left with no choice but to alter their stance.
In turn, late on Saturday evening, it should perhaps come as little surprise to hear of Al Hilal, at long last, getting their man.
As per an official statement across Fulham’s website and social media platforms:
‘The Club can confirm that Aleksandar Mitrović has this evening left to join Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League for a Club record transfer fee.’
The Londoners have also made sure to highlight the role of Mitrovic himself in the move, adding:
‘The Club had reluctantly accepted a revised offer as the player had consistently made his desire to leave known.’
