Arsenal spent much of the current campaign sat top of the Premier League.
At one point this year they had an 11-point lead over a Manchester City who were not firing on all cylinders.
However, City kicked into gear around February and have won their last 12 Premier League matches.
Arsenal, meanwhile, went on a horrible run of form, which cost them top spot.
The north Londoners drew with Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton before losing to Manchester City.
They then lost 3-0 to Brighton last weekend and 1-0 vs Nottingham Forest on Saturday. That final loss meant Manchester City won the Premier League without having to play their game.
And Guardiola believes there is a tendency to underestimate teams who do not quite get over the line and wants the Gunners to be given the respect they deserve for such a promising season.
“It’s the tendency to underestimate. They are winners,” he said.
