Pep Guardiola had the luxury of being able to rest all of Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden during midweek.
The decision didn’t quite pay off though as Manchester City were held to a goalless draw with FC Copenhagen.
Speaking ahead of their trip to face Liverpool, the Spaniard has revealed why he opted to rest the trio on Tuesday.

Guardiola has revealed that Haaland, Silva and Foden are all fit and ready to face Liverpool.
He cited fatigue as the reason for resting the three players.
Haaland did have issues last season with playing many games in a row and Guardiola has suggested they needed to be cautious.
“Some players recover better, last season we cannot forget Erling could not play this amount of games in a row.
“So he was tired, Bernardo as well and the other ones, but they feel good, they are ready for Sunday.”
