Supporters of Manchester United have flooded to social media on Saturday afternoon, to single one member of the club’s squad out for special praise.

The Red Devils, of course, are currently locked in action.

After seeing the club’s top-4 hopes dealt a major blow at the hands of relegation-battling Everton last time out, Ralf Rangnick’s troops welcomed Premier League basement dwellers Norwich City to Old Trafford, eyeing a bounce back result.

And, with 45 minutes played in Manchester, a return to winning ways is precisely what the day’s hosts are headed towards.

This comes owing to a brace on the part of Cristiano Ronaldo, who, after taking advantage of Anthony Elanga’s early pressure and pull-back to open the scoring early on, doubled his tally just beyond the half-hour mark courtesy of a trademark header.

*Update* – Norwich have since pulled a goal back through Kieran Dowell.

‘Outstanding’

At the break on Saturday afternoon, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of that man Ronaldo stealing the headlines amid a return to form in front of goal.

As alluded to above, however, many of a Manchester United persuasion, instead, have in fact been keen to lavish praise on another member of Ralf Rangnick’s squad.

The player in question? The returning Jesse Lingard.

Afforded a rare start in midfield against Norwich, Lingard has since gone on to impress those of a Red Devils persuasion, culminating in many calling into question exactly why the English international has not been the recipient of more regular game-time across the season to date:
