Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe says he is hoping to create another memorable campaign this season with the Magpies.
A seventh-placed finish was not enough to secure European football at St. James’ Park in 2024-25 due to Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph in May but memories of Champions League nights on Tyneside will provide fresh motivation to go again this term.
Missing out on Europe entirely will be a bitter pill to swallow for Howe, who has been trusted as head coach since the Saudi Arabian takeover a few years ago.
But he is confident and aiming for a spot back in the top four, despite the increased competition for places in the Premier League.
He said: “Last season was an amazing season for us, the experience in the Champions League was incredible and I think our aim has to be to try and get back there again this season.
“Our focus is on having another memorable season.”

Newcastle kick-off their campaign against Southampton on the opening weekend of the new season.
They will then travel to the South Coast to face Bournemouth – Howe’s old team – for their first away trip.
