Kylian Mbappe has taken to social media to hit back at claims that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer, following the bombshell news that he won’t be extending his Paris Saint Germain contract beyond 2024.
News broke on Monday evening that France’s no.1 star had communicated his decision to the Parisians, who for their part were thought to be furious with the decision.
In a statement, Mbappe explained that ‘“I have NEVER discussed any contract renewal with PSG. The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them”.
It has sent the transfer rumour mill into overdrive, with Real Madrid one of the possible destinations for the World Cup winner after he was close to joining them 12 months ago.
Mbappe, however, has revealed his stance on the matter, claiming that he would rather stay at PSG for another season and leave on a free when his contract expires.
“LIES…”, he slammed one of the reports claiming that he wanted to move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. “At the same time, the bigger it is, the more it passes. I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy”, he added in a tweet responding to the links.
MENSONGES…❌
En même temps plus c’est gros plus ça passe. J’ai déjà dis que je vais continuer la saison prochaine au PSG où je suis très heureux. https://t.co/QTsoBQvZKU— Kylian Mbappé (@KMbappe) June 13, 2023
It could be the latest in a massive summer of change for PSG, who have already let Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos leave and who are also thought to be open to offers for fellow star attacker Neymar.
