The agent of Arsenal-linked Vitoria Guimaraes star Ibrahima Bamba has, on Thursday, spoken out over claims that his client is on the verge of making the move to the Emirates Stadium.
Recent days, of course, have seen the name of defensive midfield talent Bamba take its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of north London.
This comes amid widespread suggestions that the Italian has been added to the wishlist of the powers that be at Arsenal.
Amid the ongoing efforts of Mikel Arteta and co. to add to the club’s ranks in the middle of the park ahead of the 2nd half of the campaign, Bamba, it is understood, has been identified as an attainable winter target, with a view to a predicted summer swoop for West Ham United standout Declan Rice.
In fact, some outlets in Portugal have gone as far as to suggest that Bamba’s Arsenal switch is as good as imminent.
Speaking on Thursday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his client’s Gunners links was put to the 20-year-old’s agent, Filipe Macedo Alves.
“It’s true that I was in London, but I am just arriving from Germany, where I was watching Edmond Tapsoba’s game. Bamba is not the only player I work with.
“He’s a player profile that is clearly of interest to many clubs, but today he is a Vitória player and is only focused on Monday’s game in Chaves. The market is open, but I’m not going to feed rumours.”
“The market is open.”
