There was some speculation that Ilkay Gundogan could leave Manchester City during the 2022 summer transfer window.
However, he remained put and has been in fine form so far this term, netting two and assisting one in six league outings.
But with Gundogan now in the final year of his contract, his future remains up in the air.
And when speaking to the press on Tuesday ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Borussia Dortmund, Gundogan had this to say on his City future:
“I am very happy [at Man City]. I was all the time I’m at the club. It’s football, it’s business, we will see what happens at the end of the season,” he said.
The German also revealed how Erling Haaland reacted to drawing BVB in the Champions League this season:
On Haaland, he added: “I think the club has signed an incredible player. He has done well on the pitch, but his character, determination and attitude off the pitch. We are both looking forward to the game against our old club.
“He’s settled very well at Man City. I think the numbers speak for themselves… I think his future is very bright, he’s going to give us a lot more not just this season, but in the years to come.”
In the same press conference, Pep Guardiola revealed how he reacted to being told Man City were signing Haaland: “Ah, quite good. Txiki [Begiristain] spoke to me, ‘Ah good, okay’.”
