Inter Milan threw away a two-goal lead over city rivals AC Milan as former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham’s 93rd-minute winner gave his side the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh.

The win means Sergio Conceicao picked up his first trophy just a week into the job, as Rafael Leao came off the bench and played a part in all three of Milan’s goals.

Serie A champions Inter went 2-0 up through goals from Lautaro Martinez and Mehdi Taremi.

But Milan pulled one back five minutes later with Theo Hernandez scoring directly from a free kick and Christian Pulisic then equalised 10 minutes from time. The game looked set for a penalty shootout until Abraham stunned Inter by netting the late winner in Saudi Arabia.

The win denied Inter what would have been an unprecedented fourth consecutive Super Cup trophy, and allowed Milan to equal Inter’s haul of eight wins in the competition.

AC Milan were runners up in the league last season and went out in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals but were in Riyadh because the Super Cup was expanded to four teams last season.

AC beat Juventus last Friday to tee up the final against Inter.
