The 32-year-old initially joined the Gunners in January 2023 from Chelsea, signing until the end of the current campaign but has been rewarded for his impressive stint in red.

Italy’s 52-cap international has made 35 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring once but providing quality and calmness in midfield alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
Speaking on his new deal, he said: “I’m really, really happy to stay because it’s a privilege to be a part of this family.”
Mikel Arteta has rebuilt Arsenal since being appointed head coach in 2019 and is on the cusp of winning the Premier League title.
The Gunners sit top of the table and are hoping Manchester City drop points in their final few games to hand them a first title since 2004.
On Jorginho’s contract, the Spaniard added: “Jorgi is such an important part of our team, a role model with great leadership skills and a unique playing style ability which makes everybody better around him on the pitch.”

Sporting director Edu has often done deals with London neighbours Chelsea, bringing another ex-blue in Kai Havertz to the Emirates last summer.
So far both he and Jorginho have slotted in seamlessly, becoming key players for Arteta thanks to their experience and winning mentality.
Jorginho won the Champions League with Chelsea and the Euros with Italy in 2021, but will be determined to add more silverware to his collection with Arsenal.
Edu said: “We’re very happy to have Jorgi sign a contract extension with us. He represents what we stand for here at Arsenal with his professionalism and success.
“I know everyone at the club will be very excited that Jorgi will continue to be with us, not only the players and coaches, but all the staff behind the scenes as well.
“It’s great that Jorginho remains with us, as we continue building to be better and stronger.”
Arsenal travel to Manchester United for their penultimate game of the season on Sunday.
A win will keep them at the summit until City face Tottenham in their game in hand on Tuesday.
