Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has, on Saturday evening, provided an insight into his decision to haul Trent Alexander-Arnold off during the club’s meeting with Crystal Palace.
Klopp and co, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.
After seeing efforts to build morale across what has proven a trying campaign brought crashing down at the hands of Real Madrid in midweek, the Reds made the trip to south London, eyeing a swift return to winning ways at the expense of the aforementioned Palace.
When all was said and done, however, such endeavours fell flat, en route to a drab goalless stalemate at Selhurst Park.

Across what proved to be another frustrating evening’s work for all associated with Liverpool, it should come as little surprise to hear that a whole host of the club’s stars were singled out for heavy criticism once more.
One such player comes in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who looked far from his brilliant best against across his time on the pitch against Palace.
The German, however, was adamant that this was in fact not the case, instead pointing towards his key defender’s heavy workload over the course of recent weeks:
Klopp:
“I didn’t take Trent off because he played bad – he played all of the games so we had to change him.” #lfc [sky]
