Italian juggernaut Juventus have drawn the ire of its fanbase in the wake of the club’s links with a swap deal involving Belgian international striker and ostracized Chelsea frontman Romelu Lukaku.

In the wake of the club’s latest pre-season friendly during its build-up to the 2023-24 Serie A campaign, fans rushed onto the pitch at the Allianz Stadium and had to be cordoned off by matchday security as fans chanted “We don’t want Lukaku!” according to pictures provided by Forza Juventus.

This is just the latest development in the ongoing transfer saga surrounding the record Belgian international goalscorer, who has been removed from the senior setup at Stamford Bridge under new boss Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent.

As such, Juventus have been pushing for a swap deal that could see Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović head off to London, while Lukaku could make his return to Serie A in Black and White, but for Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri, losing Vlahović is not an option.

“Vlahović is our striker. I already said that in case we receive big proposals the club is gonna decide as the target is to become sustainable. I don’t decide on this kind of thing — I am very happy with Vlahović”.

Reports from Standard Sports’ Nizaar Kinsella detail a different situation in the English capital, however, with Chelsea not considering a swap deal, and instead, are seeking a separate and permanent solution surrounding Lukaku.

“Juventus have always been the ones pushing Vlahović to Chelsea as they seek to raise funds for Lukaku. The Lukaku protests tonight add another layer of complexity to the efforts to let him go. Of course, Lukaku hasn’t been given a squad number. The decision to remove him from Pochettino’s squad was a joint decision between him and Chelsea.”
