France have, late on Saturday, been dealt yet another blow on the personnel front.

The latest member of Didier Deschamps’ ranks ruled out of the upcoming Qatar World Cup? Hitman Karim Benzema.

Concerns surrounding the wellbeing of Real Madrid standout Benzema first began to spread earlier this evening.

This came upon word coming to the fore in the media that the 34-year-old had limped out of French national team training.

Speculation, in turn, quickly spread like wildfire as to Benzema’s wellbeing, with the initial assumption having been that the Ballon d’Or holder had suffered a setback in his efforts to recover from a pair of issues with his knee and hamstring.

The reality of the situation, however, has in fact proven far more serious.

Not only will the veteran frontman miss Les Bleus’ World Cup group stage opener versus Australia, as had been initially suggested, but he will therefore be forced to watch on from afar for the entirety of France’s journey through the competition.
