A fresh insight into the wellbeing of Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema has been provided late on Saturday.
Hitman Benzema marked his return to the pitch earlier this week.
On the back of a spell on the sidelines owing to a quad concern, the French international was afforded just shy of half an hour of game-time, in Los Blancos’ Champions League drubbing of Scottish champions Celtic.
Hope, in turn, had spread that Benzema would be fit and available to feature from the off this weekend.
This comes as Carlo Ancelotti’s troops prepare to turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, in a La Liga trip to Rayo Vallecano.
Real will head into proceedings aware that dropped points are simply not an option, after seeing Clasico rivals Barcelona close the gap at the summit of Spain’s top-flight to just a solitary point last weekend.
As per a number of reports in the Spanish media on Saturday evening, Benzema was absent from team training earlier today, owing to what is described as ‘muscle fatigue’.

Such news will of course come as a source of concern for not only Real Madrid, but also France boss Didier Deschamps, as the 34-year-old – fresh off lifting the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career – continues to struggle for form and fitness alike.
