Kylian Mbappe admits scoring to help clinch the UEFA Super Cup was a dream start to his Real Madrid tenure.

The 25-year-old took just over an hour to bag a debut goal as the Champions League winners overcame Europa League holders Atalanta in the traditional curtain-raiser in Warsaw on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman slammed home a pull-back from player of the match Jude Bellingham to cap a 2-0 win and begin his new era following a switch from Paris Saint Germain with a trophy.

Mbappe told Movistar: “It was a great night. It’s a great moment for me. And we won a title, which is important – at Madrid you always have to win.

“I am very happy. And with the goal too – it is important for a striker like me. But the most important thing has been to have the pleasure of playing with this team.

“We are at Real Madrid, we have no limit. If I can score 50, then 50, but the most important thing is winning and improving as a team, because we will win as a team

Mbappe also scored on his debut for Monaco’s youth team, PSG in Ligue 1 and also the Champions League, and told uefa.com: “It’s not bad. It’s obviously easier to start on a positive step and I’m so happy to have done that.

“It’s always special (to score) so it’s obviously hard to ask a striker which goal he preferred, but, naturally, this one is very special.

A new adventure

“It’s a long-awaited goal, I was very keen on starting this new adventure with Real Madrid. To start well, to start with a trophy is very special. You want to win every trophy available, so that’s the objective.”

Bellingham told TNT Sports: “We have a new-look team. It seemed to click tonight – sometimes it takes a bit of time. The first half, we were still adjusting, but the second half it all came together and we were brilliant.

“Mbappe is just one of those players, he’s brilliant, so sharp, so much technical quality, a great team-mate as well – he works for the team, like the rest of the lads. Credit to him, he deserves it.”

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was thrilled his side managed to gel so quickly against stubborn opposition.

He told TNT Sports: “Mbappe did really well. He adapted really well to the team.

“He combined well with Vinícius Junior and with Bellingham. Of course, we have a lot of quality, but we have to play together and we did that.”
