The player in question is Emile Smith Rowe.
This past season saw the 22-year-old notch just 161 minutes of league action across 12 outings.
However, following the end of the Premier League campaign, ESR linked up with England’s under-21s and won the European Championship during the summer break.
Smith Rowe has since returned to Arsenal and linked up with them on their pre-season tour of the USA.
Now, journalist Charles Watts has praised Smith Rowe for his performances in pre-season:
“Emile Smith Rowe as well (a winner of Arsenal’s pre-season tour),” said Watts. “He only played in a couple of the games.
“From what I have heard as well, he is absolutely determined to make a mark this season, Emile Smith Rowe. He is really, really hungry and determined to force his way into the team and Mikel Arteta’s plans.
“He looks lean and hungry and ready to make an impact.”
With Granit Xhaka looking likely to leave Arsenal, Smith Rowe could be used as a no.8 alongside Martin Odegaard or Kai Havertz.
